Koishikawa Annex
By overlapping a contemporary artist’s creativity on the Chamber of Curiosities making up the Koishikawa Annex’s permanent exhibition, this experimental exhibition attempted to give a new development to Art & Science. For this, we invited Yoichiro Kawaguchi, professor at the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies of the University of Tokyo, well-known internationally since the 1970s in the field of computer graphics, and active now as creative artist and researcher. The original sculptural works presented here are creations inspired to Kawaguchi by marine and terrestrial organisms such as conches, jellyfish, fish and butterflies. These astonishing creatures created a strange natural history within the Koishikawa Annex.
